AIG Camp Video by ECU

AIG camp is a summer enrichment opportunity for elementary and middle school students through Pitt County Schools and East Carolina University. Academically and intellectually gifted students attend a week long camp based on a theme. Master teachers, ECU professors and ECU students working on their AIG certification come together to plan and teach lessons based on a theme.  Click below to watch these students learn about SYSTEMS in the 2012 video!

To Ad or Not to Ad
Advertising in Schools

Last summer, we presented students with the following question:
Is funding from businesses an ethical, effective means of increasing funding for our school? 
Then, we transformed the classroom into a school council boardroom, Students, as the council members,  explored, examined and analyzed whether in school advertising was a way to fund technology, infrastructure and personnel in a new school that must be built due to overcrowding in Pitt County.  The students had opportunities to attack a real world problem with debate, collaborative learning and independent exploration while using a variety of multimedia products.

AIG Camp+Tech Integration

All the camp lesson resources were housed on a website we created just for our session.  Students used the website to access content (websites and videos), blog about the day's lessons and find directions to create a public service announcement in Movie Maker about advertising in schools.
